Hollywood icon John Travolta has issued a Christmas message to fans as he prepares to fly a historic Boeing 707 to New South Wales, touching down at Illawarra Regional Airport south of Sydney.

The Pulp Fiction actor is preparing for the flight to take place at an unconfirmed time next year.

It will culminate in his donation of the vintage Qantas plane to the Historical Aircraft Restoration Society at Albion Park Rail in New South Wales.

The new message was released by Bendigo Bank, a financial supporter of the donation.

"I want to personally think Bendigo Bank's Oak Flats and Shellharbour branches for their support," a bearded Travolta said, while seated next to a model of the aeroplane.

"I can't wait to see everybody at the Illawarra Regional Airport when we touch down in the 707."

The donation was first announced earlier this year on Bendigo Bank's Oak Flats and Shellharbour branches Facebook page.

However, it was only last month that Travolta, a qualified pilot confirmed he would be flying the plane.
