Chardon, who rose to prominence when his wife Novy went missing last year, was found to have committed the offences between 1998 and 1999.

He claimed that he had been offered sex by the 15-year-old girl, turning her down after seeking advice about the legal consequences of sleeping with a minor.

Chardon admitted, however, that he had later entered into a cash-for-sex relationship with the woman after she reached legal age.

He will be eligible for parole in three years.
