Jay-Z spends big celebrating a friend’s birthday in New York City

Rapper Jay-Z enjoyed an expensive night in Manhattan, New York over the weekend to celebrate the birthday of a close friend, spending more than AUD$139,000 in a matter of hours. 

The musician skipped the NBA All-Star Game in Los Angeles to hit the town with Roc Nation Sports president Juan “OG” Perez and a group of his company executives on Sunday, according to the New York Post.

The group are understood to have started at Japanese restaurant Zuma - spending more than AUD$16,000 on dinner – before moving to Mexican restaurant and bar, Made In Mexico, for drinks resulting in a bill in excess of AUD$11,000.

From there, the group were filmed at the Playroom nightclub ordering and handing out more than 40 bottles of Jay-Z’s own Ace of Spades champagne and racking up a AUD$115,000 bill, with a AUD$13,000 tip included.

The check wouldn’t have made too much of a dent in the rapper’s wallet however, as he is estimated to be worth a net value of around $800 million according to Forbes.
