Jarryd Hayne's accuser was 'saving herself for marriage'
The woman who has accused Parramatta Eels star Jarryd Hayne of rape as told of how she was "saving herself for marriage" before the alleged incident.
Hayne has "unequivocally and vehemently" denied he engaged in non-consensual intercourse with the, only known as “Ms V”, at a San Jose apartment December 2015.
A woman has filed a civil case in the Santa Clara County court, and according to court documents seen by 9news.com.au, is seeking a jury trial and compensation "for the emotional pain, anguish and severe distress" the alleged incident caused.
"The fact is that this woman, because of her religious and moral beliefs, saved herself [for marriage] into her mid-20s and had the decision taken from her," lawyer Micha Star Liberty told Fairfax.
"That will have a huge impact on her and her psyche,” he said.
"I think it's something she is going to struggle with for the rest of her life."
The suit includes complaints of sexual battery, gender violence, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligence.
The District Attorney's office reviewed the case and later rejected it based on insufficient evidence, the documents reveal.
Hayne touched down in Tel Aviv earlier this week after leaving Sydney.
He refused to answer questions at the airport, responding to reporters with just one word - "wow".
He was accompanied by fellow Hillsong Church member Danny Nicholson.
Hillsong's full statement read: "While we don't know the circumstances behind the allegations Jarryd is facing in the USA, we condemn any form of sexual violence or abuse."
Hayne has history with the church joining in 2008 and attending several of the congregation's major events in the past few years.
