Roosters playmaker James Maloney set to make shock move to Cronulla

Sydney Roosters star James Maloney is set to announce he will sign with the Cronulla Sharks on a three-year deal.

It is understood Maloney will make the news public within hours, though neither club has yet confirmed the deal.

The five-eighth is believed to have wanted to stay with the Roosters, but was only offered a two-year deal by the Bondi-based club.

His signing would come as good news for the embattled Sharks, who sit at 12th on the ladder.
