Jacqui Lambie expected to quit Palmer United Party

Controversial senator Jacqui Lambie is expected to quit the Palmer United Party to run as an independent.

The outspoken Tasmanian says she'll continue to hold the Senate to ransom over the defence pay deal, refusing to vote for any legislation unless the offer is improved.

According to News Corp, a formal announcement on her split with the party is now awaiting legal advice.

“She’s in good spirits…but it’s pretty clear that she’s going to go independent, she’s not going to sit with PUP anymore,” News Corp’s National Political Editor Samantha Maiden told the TODAY show this morning after interviewing the senator.

In her interview with Ms Maiden, Ms Lambie insisted she won't be told how to vote by other members of PUP.

“Glen Lazarus was a political enforcer for Clive Palmer,” Ms Maiden said.

“He used to come into her office and tell her how to vote, and she says she won’t be intimidated by anyone.”
