The fastest growing city in Queensland has just welcomed six sets of twins born in the same month.

Four Ipswich couples who recently celebrated the arrival of twins have met to introduce their newborns.

New mum Rosemary Pedley described the trepidation that came with the news she was expecting two bundles of joy.

“Looked at him, [partner] and he nearly passed out of the chair,” she said.

Two of the sets were born this week, with six last month, and 11 in total this year, all at Ipswich Hospital.

The unexpected arrival was a special surprise for Josie and Lee Harris, who were told they could only conceive through IVF.

“We were very fortunate that these two came along, so we didn’t have to go down that track,” Mrs Harris said.
