Intellectually disabled man robbed in disturbing attack in Sydney’s south

Police have released CCTV of a man they are hunting in relation to a sickening assault on an intellectually disabled man in Sydney’s south.

The 23-year-old man left a train at Bexley North station on Wednesday when he was followed by the alleged offender.

Detectives have been told the man was forced onto Caldwell Lane, where he was assaulted and his wallet stripped of cash.

The victim was then dragged down nearby Shaw Street, before he was able to break free and run to a pharmacy for help.

But the attack did not stop there, with the offender chasing him inside before staff intervened.

“This man was actually trying to grab him and drag him outside,” pharmacist Kathy Gionis said.

“One of our staff members just pulled him away to safety inside and just stood in front of him so he wouldn’t be able to get to him.

“It’s disgusting.”

CCTV vision shows the man police wish to speak to shifting uneasily inside the pharmacy and dressed all in black.

Police believe the man is a local from the St George area.
