Inspirational Youngcare resident Tim Martin has completed New York Marathon alongside Brisbane media personalities.

9NEWS Brisbane newsreader Andrew Lofthouse and NOVA’s Ash, Kip and Luttsy took turns pushing Mr Martin in his wheelchair during the famous marathon.

“We did it, we did it, yes,” an emotional Mr Martin said after crossing the finish line.

Mr Martin’s inspiring spirit spurred his Queensland teammates on throughout the 42-kilometre race, Andrew said.

“After four months and a few hundred kilometres of pretty intensive training, we did it – crossed the line together – maybe not in record time but all to support the incredible work of Youngcare,” he said.

“It was tough but it was an unreal day,” Ash said.

Queenslanders and other supporters also helped the team to keep going.

“It’s just very emotional and heartwarming because the boys have done an incredible job,” Mr Martin’s sister Carolyn said.

Mr Martin has used a wheelchair since he suffered a brain injury at the age of 23.

Thanks to Youngcare, Mr Martin lives with people his own age rather than in an aged car facility.

Anyone who wishes to support the cause can donate via the Youngcare website.
