A Melbourne man has died in hospital after being found critically injured in a Footscray car park this morning.
Police responding to an unrelated theft were alerted to the man, who had life-threatening injuries, in the car park shortly after 1.30am (AEDT).

The 32-year-old was taken to the Western General Hospital in a critical condition, where he later died.
A 21-year-old man who presented at the same hospital a short time later is being assessed by hospital staff under police guard.
It is believed both parties are known to each other.
