Induced coma for truckie after hit and run

A truck driver has been put in an induced coma after a hit-and-run in Sydney.

The 33-year-old man was attending to his 25-tonne work truck on Carter Street in Olympic Park when he was struck by an unknown vehicle at about 5.20am on Thursday.

He is in a serious but stable condition in Westmead Hospital, police say.

Officers have examined the scene but have yet to find any witnesses.

At the time of the collision, the man was wearing his work gear, including a high-visibility vest.
