Illegal burnout sessions force police to crack down on hoons in Melbourne

Police have vowed to crack down on illegal hooning in Melbourne’s northern suburbs after video surfaced of the careless behaviour.

Footage obtained by News Corp shows cars doing doughnuts, flicking up dust and coming dangerously close to a cheering crowd.

It’s believed around 200 people gathered at the industrial site on Wednesday night, before footage was uploaded online.

The illegal meet-ups occur under the monikers the Northern Skids and South East Skids, the Herald Sun reported.

Victoria Police has vowed to charge offenders and seize their cars.

The hoons’ actions come just three months after two 19-year-olds died after their Holden ute plunged from the EJ Whitten Bridge in Keilor East in January after an illegal street race.

The car was believed to have been travelling up to 160km/h before it fell onto an embankment and exploded into flames. It was captured on CCTV footage.
