Ian Thorpe has emerged from rehab and may make a return to television next month on Channel Ten's coverage of the Commonwealth Games.

The ex-swimming champion has checked out of rehabilitation for depression after he suffered a breakdown in January and was admitted to a clinic.

"That's great news that Ian is better," Thorpe's former teammate Nicole Livingstone told the Sunday Telegraph.

Thorpe's manager is rumoured to be in negotiations with Ten for the swimming great to join Livingstone as a TV host on the Commonwealth Games coverage in Scotland this July.

Friends told the newspaper Thorpe is in "great shape" apart from a shoulder injury which was operated on while he was undergoing rehabilitation.
