Hungry Jack’s to speed up brekkie drive-thru with e-tags

The service is faster at Hungry Jack's, it would seem, as the fast food giant trials a new way for drive-thru customers to order breakfast.

The eatery has created what it calls a ‘Brekk-E-Tag’ specifically for consumers who may not be avid conversationalists in the morning, or who are in a rush and already know what they want to order.

The device purportedly eliminates the need for customers to relay their order to a staff member; instead users simply drive-thru and collect their pre-ordered meal.

The new service will be trialled for a limited time and can so far only be used at Hungry Jack’s Tumbi Umbi in Central NSW. 

Customers who use the device will need to pre-register their favourite breakfast meal on the website, connect the Brekk-E-Tag to their car windscreen and then head to Hungry Jack's. 

The technology works off Radio Frequency Identification just like the tags used to collect road tolls, and will beep as the customer moves through the drive-thru.  

“Customers go through the Hungry Jack’s drive-thru not only for the great-tasting food but also because it is convenient and quick, we’re always striving for ways to make that experience even better,” Hungry Jack’s Chief Marketing Officer, Scott Baird said. 

“We can’t wait to see how our customers respond to the technology and hopefully soon we’ll see it in more of our restaurants across the country.” 

A limited number of Brekk-E-Tags are being distributed to customers in and around the Tumbi Umbi store this week. Customers can also request one from the store Restaurant Manager.
