Human arm found in search for missing Coral Bay fishermen

Western Australia Police say divers from a charter boat have located a human arm on the ocean floor at Coral Bay while searching for a 57-year-old Cooloongup man and a 50-year-old Port Kennedy man who went missing on Sunday.

Police will conduct forensic tests on the arm, recovered near Bills Bay, to confirm whether it belongs to either Andy Hinds, 57, or Nigel Kitchen, 50.

The tests will also reveal whether it was lost in a shark attack, though results may not be available for several days.

The charter boat was among a number of vehicles utilised today in a combined land, sea and air search for the two men.

The pair departed Coral Bay in a 8.2m boat on Sunday but failed to return at their usual time before sunset.

The boat trailer and vehicle were found parked at the boat ramp at Monk Head.

The boat itself has not yet been located, however numerous items believed to belong to it have been recovered, leading to fears the boat may have capsized.

A piece of debris found today that was initially believed to be from the boat's hull has now been discounted as being from the vessel, police said.

The men were members of a Rockingham fishing club and were on a holiday with friends.

The search will resume tomorrow.
