Stolen giant Christmas star rescued from backyard in Victoria

A huge Christmas star has allegedly been stolen from outside a library in Victoria and required emergency workers to retrieve it from 25m tall gum tree.
The giant golden decoration was stolen from a community display outside Sir John Gorton Library in Kerang and later found in the backyard of the man who allegedly took it on Wednesday.
It was spotted on top of a tall gum tree, reportedly because the man thought it would look better there.
Police said after numerous tip offs, officers tracked down the star to a property less than 2km away from the library.
Search and rescue experts were then called in to recover the star from the gum tree before it was returned to the display.
Police have charged a 24-year-old Kerang man with cultivate a narcotic, possess cannabis and theft.
The man was bailed to appear before the local magistrates court on February 2.
