Housing supply needs to increase:Hockey

Treasurer Joe Hockey says increasing housing supply is the only way to tackle extraordinary demand in the Sydney market.

Mr Hockey, responding to reports the median Sydney house price is now $1 million, says he's prepared to work with the states to find ways to increase the supply.

"We are even prepared to consider a range of different initiatives that will help to address that supply logjam," he told reporters in Sydney on Thursday.
