Liberal MP Trent Zimmerman has become the first House of Representatives MP to be housed in a Senate office in Parliament House.
Mr Zimmerman, who replaced Joe Hockey as the member for North Sydney in a by-election, has a temporary office in the Senate wing while waiting for a suite on the opposite side of the building to become available.
"He is becoming a lot fitter," Senate President Stephen Parry joked during an estimates committee hearing in Canberra on Monday.
