Sparks fly as 'high-speed pursuit' caught on camera

An alleged high speed pursuit that lasted nearly two hours and spanned more than 50 kilometres in Brisbane has come to a crashing end.

From Redbank Plains to Murrumba Downs, the 24-year-old driver was allegedly “unafraid to risk lives”, crossing onto the wrong side of the road several times.

Video from the police helicopter shows the allegedly stolen car speeding, with its tyres torn to pieces by police stingers and sparks coming from the back of it.

The driver then gets out of the car and can be seen allegedly running from police.

But soon out-of-breath and options, he surrenders himself to authorities in the backyard of a nearby home.

“I looked outside the front and there were 20 cop cars,” local resident Katherine Bradley said.

The suspect was arrested outside her one-year-old son’s bedroom.

“I heard a lot of yelling,” she said.

“My main concern were my children.”

Dillan Burns faced court today in Brisbane, facing 14 charges in relation to the alleged chase.

Police will also allege the car was involved in a number of petrol thefts since being stolen three weeks ago.
