Melbourne man devours 16 hot dogs in ten minutes in ‘chompetition’
A man has devoured 16 hot dogs in 10 minutes to take out the men’s title of a competitive hot dog eating contest in Melbourne.
Some of Australia’s best and top-ranked ‘pro-competitive eaters’ took their seats at Luna Park today to battle it out in the 2017 ‘Luna Park Hot Dog Eating Competition’.
Coinciding with International Hot Dog Month, the ‘chompetition’ claims to be one of the pinnacle events of Australia’s competitive eating calendar. And it’s no laughing matter.
Male and female contestants have ten minutes to gulp down as many hot dogs as they can, with the winner in each category awarded a trophy and an annual pass to Luna Park.
Dubbed Australia’s second-ranked competitive eater, Cal Stubbs from Hulk Smashfood chomped down 16 hot dogs, while female winner Sarah Gilbert managed seven.
