Horse rescued after falling metres down a well in Donald, central Victoria

A horse has survived a dramatic rescue operation in central Victoria this morning after it fell three metres down a well.

The gelding, named Socks, was trapped inside the well for several hours at the town of Donald, with rescuers using a rope to keep his head above water. 

Donald's CFA Incident Controller said it was a challenging operation to rescue the horse.

The horse was assessed by a vet and suffered minor injuries, but is expected to make a full recovery.
