A horror weekend on Queensland’s roads has seen four people killed, bringing the state’s 2015 road toll to 31.

A motorbike rider and his passenger, both aged in their 50s, were killed after hitting a car.

It is believed they were overtaking a vehicle when they crossed double white lines and smashed straight into the sedan emerging from a driveway.

The rider and his female passenger were fatally flung 15 metres from their bike.

The 75-year-old disabled pensioner who had been driving the car was rushed to hospital with suspected spinal injuries, but is now in a stable condition.

Another man and woman were also killed when their van collided with a truck on the Bruce Highway north of Mackay.

The cause is still being investigated but it is believed it was a head-on collision.
