Pedestrian dies on Sydney street after being struck by truck

A woman was killed at an intersection on a busy street in Sydney’s north today when she was hit by a truck.

NSW police officers were called to the intersection of Sherbrook Road and Burdett Street in Hornsby around 12.45pm following reports a truck had hit a pedestrian.

Authorities confirmed in a statement that the woman, who has not been formally identified, died at the scene of the incident. 

The driver of the truck has since been taken to Hornsby Hospital for mandatory drug and alcohol testing.

Meanwhile, police remain on the scene and have established a crime scene to investigate how the incident unfolded.

Traffic diversions were put in place for motorists around the scene, but have since been lifted.

Residents who live near the scene of the incident have described the road as "dangerous".

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
