An elderly man was allegedly assaulted at a Coburg property.  Nine

An elderly man who was seriously assaulted in Melbourne's north this month has died, prompting homicide detectives to investigate.

The 87-year-old was found inside a Coburg property on Reynard Street on November 11 just before 11pm.

He was taken to hospital with serious injuries but died this morning.

A 56-year-old man from Kurunjang and a 45-year-old Morwell woman, who were also at the scene on the evening of the assault, were spoken to by police.

"They were released without charge and it is understood all parties were known to each other," police said in a statement.
