Gunman kicked in door before shooting hail of bullets into home

Police are investigating why at least five shots were fired into a home in Adelaide's northern suburbs.

Two people were inside the Eton Drive home at Andrews Farm when the gunman kicked in the front door just before midnight.

Police say the offender didn't enter the home but unleashed a volley of bullets which hit and pierced roller shutters and windows, hitting internal walls.

The residents inside the home weren't injured.

Officers quickly swarmed the area but despite a major search, the suspect couldn't be found.

A sniffer dog was also called in to search the scene for bullet casings.

Detectives have returned to the street this morning, door-knocking neighbouring houses and speaking with residents.

Police say they are not treating this attack as random – but haven't revealed the motive for the shooting.
