Hockey won't buy into election talk

Treasurer Joe Hockey won't buy into talk of an early election but he won't guarantee there will be another budget before Australians go to the polls either.

There has been speculation that the generosity of last week's budget suggests the next federal election, due in late 2016, could be brought forward.

Asked directly whether he can guarantee there will be a third budget before the next poll, Mr Hockey told ABC television on Sunday: "I am determined to bring down future budgets to build on our economic plan."
