Debris strewn across busy road after high-speed Melbourne crash

A young girl has been left with serious spinal injuries and another is on the run after a car slammed into a pole and a tree in Melbourne’s north.

Police attempted to stop the speeding car, which had four teens inside, on Cooper Street in Epping around 2am today before it sped off and crashed into a pole.

The car then crossed three lanes of traffic before it slammed into a tree.

A 16-year-old boy, a 14-year-old girl were taken to hospital in a stable condition and another teenage girl has serious spinal injuries, Ambulance Victoria told 9NEWS.

The fourth teen fled the crash on foot and is still on the run.

The investigation is ongoing.
