High-speed crash in northern NSW during highway race

Police are investigating after a car smashed into a guard rail on the Pacific Highway in northern NSW, in what is believed to be a street racing incident.

One car lost control at high speed and smashed into the rail at Hastings Point about 4pm.

Two people were injured in the crash and emergency services are now at the scene.

Another car was in the vicinity at the time and it is believed the two vehicles may have been racing.

Police are still investigating.
