High-powered rifle used in drive-by shooting at Melbourne brothel

At least five shots were fired at a brothel during a drive-by shooting in Melbourne's south-east early today.

Five to six shots were fired from a high-powered rifle outside Club859 in Caulfield South just before 3am, police said.

Five people were inside the Glen Huntly Road brothel at the time, none of which were customers.

Police received three Triple Zero calls, but do not yet have a description of the vehicle.

The shooting follows the firebombing of the Kittens Strip Club, also on Glen Huntly Road, last month, which has also been targeted by drive-by shootings.

Police have not linked this shooting to the past incidents, which they have confirmed involved bikies and were related to security disputes.

However, it is expected the Echo Taskforce will investigate this incident. 

Police remain at the scene.
