Heritage Bank customers in Queensland and NSW hit with online technical outage

Heritage Bank customers in New South Wales and Queensland are unable to use internet banking services, ATMs or make EFTPOS transactions after an online outage hit the company.

The bank released a statement about 3.15pm today saying it was experiencing technical issues that have affected internet, mobile and phone banking platforms as well as digital wallets, ATMs and EFTPOS.

Heritage Bank describes itself as "Australia's largest customer owned bank" and has branches and ATM outlets located across large parts of Queensland and NSW.

A spokesman told 9News.com.au there is no estimated time for how long the outage could last and would not say how many customers were affected, but that the outage has impacted the company's IT systems.

"We're working to restore services as quickly as possible," the bank said.

Some customers took to the bank's social media platforms to comment, saying they had found themselves stuck at store checkouts and unable to use their cards, or had been waiting for more than 40 minutes to be able to pay for a service.
