A man has been charged over an alleged bomb hoax at Helensvale train station this morning, which saw the Gold Coast train line temporarily suspended.

Specialist police were called to the station at 7am after a 41-year-old Clayfield was seen making threats.

Police say he allegedly claimed to have a bomb as he was being detained, which prompted a Public Safety Preservation Act and for the station to be evacuated.

The PSPA was revoked at 8.15am after no suspicious items were found.

Commuters faced delays of more than an hour as police combed the area.

The man has since been charged with falsely stating or informing a bomb was present.

He will appear at Southport Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
