Heartless attackers viciously bash blind man at Gosford bus stop

A blind man has been savagely knocked to the ground and kicked by two teenagers at a bus stop in Gosford.

John Jenkins, 62, labelled his attackers “scum” after he was pushed to the ground around 10pm on Mann Street last night.

“Especially a blind man, that was their problem. I wouldn’t have known they were even hitting me or anything,” he said, adding he had also suffered a stroke a number of years ago.

“I don’t even remember anything… I was catching the bus home into East Gosford.”

Witnesses reported seeing one of the men kick Mr Jenkins while he lay on the ground.

The 19-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy were arrested nearby.

The 19-year-old was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault, while the 17-year-old was released without charge.

The man will appear at Gosford Local Court later today.

Mr Jenkins was treated for a cut above his eye, jaw pain and a cut on his elbow and finger.
