Iconic Harbourside shopping centre in Sydney closes
An iconic Sydney shopping centre has closed its doors permanently ahead of a billion-dollar redevelopment on the waterfront.
The Harbourside Shopping Centre at Darling Harbour opened in 1988 and hosts a range of restaurants and retailers.
The shopping centre was opened by Queen Elizabeth II during the bicentennial celebrations.

Mirvac plans to turn the site into a "world-class retail, residential, commercial workplace and entertainment precinct" as part of a $2 billion redevelopment.
The new site will boast a 3500 square metre park, a widening of the waterfront promenade, a retail site, and space for workplaces.
A 42-storey residential tower is also spruiked to be built at the site.
Demolishing and redeveloping the site is set to begin in January 2023.

Enterprise, investment and trade minister Alister Henskens said once completed the site will host 4500 jobs.
"This project will create an iconic new precinct in the heart of Sydney that will boost our economy, create jobs and strengthen our visitor economy," he said.
Mirvac CEO Susan Lloyd-Hurwitz said the redevelopment will "reimagine" the waterfront at Darling Harbour.
"This project will reimagine the Darling Harbour waterfront and provides a critical missing piece of the Western Harbour rejuvenation that has been taking place since the completion of the ICC," she said.
