Pauline Hanson blames immigration for Australia’s housing affordability problem

One Nation leader Pauline Hanson has blamed immigration levels and foreign students as the root cause of Australia’s sky-rocketing house prices.

Senator Hanson took to Facebook this afternoon to discuss her solution to the nation’s  “hyper-inflated” property market.

“Last financial year the government allowed 190,000 permanent residents into Australia,” she said in a video post.

“The largest migrant numbers came from India with 21 percent, China made up 15 percent and the UK contributed 10 percent.

“These immigration levels are too high and are simply adding to the housing crisis.”

Senator Hanson said the government “didn’t care” about the “average Aussie.”

“We need to address the 400,000 foreign students who are buying housing…and the foreign investors,” she said.

She suggested a limit of two houses to investors who purchase property for negative gearing.

When people have 10 or 15 or 20 houses, that is stopping the housing available for other Australians.
