Hacked Brisbane billboard broadcast pornography after cyberattack

Hackers broadcast pornography on a Brisbane billboard in an "abhorrent" cyberattack.

Billboard operator Goa said the digital LED screen on Milton Road showed "inappropriate content of a pornographic nature" for up to three and a half minutes on Sunday morning, reports the Brisbane Times.

"Within minutes of the breach occurring, our IT techs began an immediate shutdown and investigation," Goa said.

Queensland Police have confirmed the billboard was "broken into", while Goa managing director said the company had images of individuals who may be involved.

Goa - which runs over 70 digital billboards in Queensland - apologised for any offence, particularly as a school is nearby.

"We are particularly conscious that this may have included children and adolescents," Goa said.

"As a family-owned business that has operated in Brisbane for in excess of 50 years, no manner or format of pornography is acceptable," the company said.

"Apart from this one off incident, the rest of our internal transmission systems, including security systems, were not breached in any way."
