Group of teens wielding knives and machete rob NSW bottle store

A group of four teenage boys have been arrested after allegedly robbing a NSW South Coast bottle store at the weekend, armed with knives and a machete.

At 9.45pm on Saturday, four teens – aged between 16 and 18 – were involved in an altercation at a bottle store on Kinghorne St, Nowra.

The group allegedly verbally abused a male staff member and stole bottles of alcohol from the store being running off.

About 45 minutes later, the boys returned armed with knives and a machete and attempted to force their way back into the store, however the employee locked the door before they could enter.

The group allegedly made numerous threats toward the staff member before walking away and damaging a nearby parked car.

Some time later, three teenage boys, one aged 16 and two aged 17 as well as an 18-year-old man were arrested and taken to Nowra Police Station.

All four were charged with malicious damage in company, intimidation, and use offensive weapons in company to commit an indictable offence.

The younger boy was refused bail and appeared in children's court yesterday, where he was granted bail to appear in children's court in April.

One of the 17-year-old boys was charged with wielding a knife in a public place. Both 17-year-olds were granted strict conditional bail to appear in children's court next Thursday.

The 18-year-old man was also granted condition bail and will appear in Nowra Local Court on Monday, March 22.
