Greyhound trainer's sentence to be appealed

Disgraced Queensland greyhound trainer Tom Noble is again facing the possibility of time behind bars for live-baiting practices.

Attorney-General Yvette D'Ath has instructed Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to appeal Noble's wholly suspended three-year jail term.

The appeal was on the grounds that the decision to suspend the sentence was "manifestly inadequate", she said.

Noble, 69, was sentenced in the Ipswich District Court last month after pleading guilty to 15 counts of serious animal cruelty related to live-baiting.

The court had heard Noble used piglets, rabbits and possums to develop a "bloodlust" in the racing dogs between August and October 2014.

Ms D'Ath'ss decision follows the DPP lodging an application last month targeting the net proceeds from the sale of Noble's Churchable property and seeking orders to compel him to get written consent before it is sold.
