Greens to stick with Senate reform timing

The Greens are sticking to a government timetable for a parliamentary vote on changes to the way senators are elected, despite reports of tensions within their ranks.

Leader Richard Di Natale told reporters on Wednesday his party remained committed to doing everything in its power to ensure the changes are in place before the next election, even in the case of a double dissolution.

The government wants legislation implementing the changes, which some analysts say could cost the Greens two upper house seats including that of high-profile senator Sarah Hanson-Young, passed by mid-March.
