Greens don't care for jobs, minister says

Energy Minister Josh Frydenberg believes the Greens should be ashamed for celebrating the closure of Victoria's Hazelwood power station, which will lead to hundreds of job losses.

The federal government recognised that lower emissions future was a good thing but would do everything it could to ensure stability in the system whereas the Greens were "all care and no responsibility".

"They don't care if we see a repeat of the blackout in South Australia, they don't care if there is gridlock on their roads, you don't care if Arrium loses its power and Olympics loses its power and the Port Pirie smelter loses its power and the people are put out of work," Mr Frydenberg told parliament on Monday in response to a question from Greens MP Adam Bandt.
