Great Ocean Road reopens after debris from landslides is cleared

The Great Ocean Road has reopened almost a fortnight after it was closed due to landslides caused by heavy rain and flooding in the state.

Stabilisation and road-clearing works have allowed VicRoads to reopen all of the tourist road with the exception of a short section between Wye River and Separation Creek.

The route, which experienced more than 80 landslides above the road and 40 below on the ocean side, is now open to vehicles less than 12 metres long and under 12 tonnes, a VicRoads spokesman said today.
