Grassfire sends smoke over CityLink Pascoe Vale, Melbourne

A grassfire has sent thick smoke over the CityLink at Pascoe Vale in Melbourne this afternoon.

Fire crews extinguished the blaze after it broke out about 2pm (AEDT), and nearby residents reported hearing loud explosions.

“It was louder than a firecracker, it was definitely like a gunshot – it was really loud,” Ray Hehr said.

A group of male teenagers was seen leaving the area, and investigations into the cause of the blaze are ongoing.
