Grants of $51m for disability information

Organisations run by people with disability will be able to apply for grants worth $51 million under the National Disability Insurance Scheme's National Information program.

The federal government has launched the scheme for innovative projects that deliver high quality and accessible information about on disability, and specific disability types.

Organisations are able to apply for grants starting at $300,000, with no upper limit, for a three-year period to 2022, as part of the Information, Linkages and Capacity Building strategy announced in December 2018.

Assistant Minister for Social Services, Housing and Disability Services, Sarah Henderson, said the program also aims to fund projects which develop and distribute information on disabilities that meets the needs of specific audiences.

"This includes people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD), Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (A&TSI) and LGBTQI+ communities, as well as those living in rural and remote areas," Ms Henderson said.
