A Queensland grandfather has been set upon and severely bashed by his granddaughter and another man in a brazen attack in front of security cameras at a Gold Coast shopping centre.

The shocking footage captured on Tuesday shows Bruce McNair's 22-year-old granddaughter pacing back and forth as she waits to pounce on her grandfather.

When 71-year-old arrives at the car, his granddaughter launches her attack, throwing fists at his head and connecting about five times.

"There was blood everywhere. They had to bring mops out and everything," Mr McNair told Nine News.

A man approached the fight, dragging a young child by the hand, before he too began pounding Mr McNair with both fists.

The little boy stood by and watched the carnage as Mr McNair endured the blows that made him feel as though he was being assaulted from all sides.

"I couldn't see because the blood just went everywhere," Mr McNair said.

"It wasn't just a dribble — it was splattered."

Following the attack, Mr McNair managed to call police while his granddaughter picked up the boy and calmly returned to her car.

She was interviewed by police but was released without charge.

Mr McNair now has a fractured eye socket and says the swelling is so severe he is now unrecognizable.

Mr McNair admitted there was bad blood between him and his granddaughter but said he did not deserve the savage beating from two people 45 years younger than him.

Anyone with information that could assist police should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
