Govt to increase pay for disabled workers

The federal government has settled a class action over a pay dispute with intellectually disabled workers.

Social Services Minister Christian Porter says legislation will be introduced to parliament to increase payments under a redress scheme set up earlier this year, following a Federal Court ruling that the government was using a discriminatory formula for paying disabled workers.

The settlement needs to be approved by the Federal Court.
