Govt MP wants flag burning to be illegal

Outspoken federal government backbencher George Christensen wants to make it illegal to burn the Australian flag.
The Nationals MP on Thursday said he would introduce a private member's bill to parliament making it illegal to desecrate the flag.
The announcement comes as Castlemaine artist Jim Coad plans to hold a 'chuck another flag on the barbie' flag-burning event on Australia Day.
