The government will try to push through a $6.3 billion compilation of savings measures and introduce its planned same-sex marriage plebiscite when parliament resumes.

The coalition has listed its omnibus bill for the first order of business on Wednesday, after it struck a deal with Labor to keep a clean energy supplement for welfare recipients among other measures.

The compromise included the government ditching the planned baby bonus reintroduction.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull will introduce legislation to establish the national vote on whether to legalise same-sex marriage, planned for February 11.

Mr Turnbull has confirmed $7.5 million in taxpayer funding for a no and a yes campaign in the lead up to the vote.

It comes as the prime minister marks one year since toppling Tony Abbott in a leadership coup.
