The government has promised billions of dollars for the future of farming, claiming its plans will keep farmers on the land, but Labor says it’s too little too late.

The Prime Minister was in Victoria’s dairy country today, launching the government’s long awaited agriculture white paper.

The paper promises an extra $100 million to help eradicate pests, $200 million to improve bio-security and $300 million more into the national water fund.

Proposed tax changes will make it easier for farmers to access money in tough times and drought loans will continue for the next decade.

Labor isn’t opposed to any of the measures but claims the white paper lacks long term vision and strategy.
