Feuding couples won't get any more government help to make sure they don't go to bed angry.

Social Services Minister Scott Morrison has dumped a scheme that offered couples $200 vouchers to subsidise relationship counselling.

The government had expected 100,000 couples to sign up but only 10,000 have since July.

And only about one in three of those who did actually went to relationship counselling, Mr Morrison said on Sunday.

The year-long trial was due to finish at the end of June but will now end in a week's time, on February 9.

The $17 million supposed to be spent on counselling will be reused for other social services.
