Gold necklace worth $36k stolen from Melbourne shop

Police have released security footage of a man who allegedly stole a valuable gold necklace from a Melbourne jewellery store.

Valued at $36,000, the nine-carat gold curb necklace was stolen from the shop on Heaths Road in Werribee on April 7 after a man entered at around 10am and requested to see the necklace with the intention to purchase it.

Police said the man left the store with the necklace without paying for it and drove off in a black Nissan Navara.

The ute allegedly displayed false registration plates of A9B9AC. 

The suspect has been described as a Caucasian male, about 170cm tall with short dark hair and a medium build.

At the time of the crime he was seen to be wearing glasses, a blue face mask, a fluorescent orange jacket, khaki pants, and black Nike shoes.
