Gold Coast woman accused of ramming police officers in wild rampage

A young woman is accused of ramming police officers in a wild chase across the Gold Coast last night.

Video obtained by 9NEWS shows the alleged driver’s getaway thwarted as she threw herself over the fence of a locked unit complex before police caught up and arrested her.

Police will allege 23-year-old Stephanie Boody became aggressive towards officers when they attempted to intercept a white Toyota Hilux ute on Binstead Way at Pacific Pines shortly before midnight yesterday.

It’s alleged she sped away, striking and injuring one officer in the process.

Officers found the ute in a nearby street, when it crashed into an unmarked police car on the M1 on-ramp.

Police then began a pursuit that was later taken over by police helicopter Polair 1, as Ms Boody allegedly continued to evade police, at one point driving through tyre spikes, and later dragging a police officer along the ground.

She was arrested after allegedly attempting to flee on foot.

Ms Boody has been charged with two counts each of assault police, fail to stop motor vehicle, one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possess dangerous drugs, possess utensils and unlawful possession of suspected stolen property.
